The Tree Of Life To The Cross (Genesis 2:15-17, Genesis 3:22-24)

Terrel Kesterson, March 18, 2018
Part of the series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Our text begins, “Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and
keep it.” God gave Adam and Eve work to do in the Garden of Eden – perfectly satisfying work.
Adam and Eve were sinless. Nothing they did went wrong. Everything came out the way it was
supposed to. That’s the way things were in all of God’s creation. But they sinned, and that
changed everything. God told Adam, “Cursed is the ground for your sake. In toil you shall eat of
it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you” (Gen. 3:17b-18a).
That’s how life is for us after Adam and Eve sinned.
