A Narrative Service of Word and Sacrament based on the Order of Holy Communion liturgy, p.15 of the Lutheran Hymnal ()

David L.W. Pfeiffer, August 18, 2013
Part of the series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

This “narrative service” is designed to enlighten its participants as to the purpose and substance of the liturgical style of Lutheran worship. The service is structured around devotional commentary on the meaning behind the various movements of the liturgy.
The Scripture references from which the liturgy is derived are included – [] indicates a general reference, all others are direct quotes.
Our prayer is that this service brings a new understanding to those less familiar with liturgical worship and a richer meaning to those already familiar with this worship style.
